Queen Gets her Bananas Back!
Retired scientist Betty Hyde gave the Queen Elizabeth II two ripe bananas on an official engagement yesterday. The Queen was very touched by the thought behind the gesture.
It turns out that Betty was in a clinic in south London during the war recovering from a shrapnel wound.
Princess Elizabeth as she was then was touring the hospital. When she saw little Betty she handed Betty two ripe bananas one for Betty and one for her sister.
65 years later, Betty was able to repay the kindness by giving the Queen back her bananas.
