13 UCLA Medical staff who snooped on Britney Spears confidential medical records have been sacked!
In addition to the 13 staff that will be fired six doctors will also be disciplined. UCLA officials have admitted that this has not been the first time Britney Spears’ medical confidentiality had been compromised.
Several UCLA employees were caught peeking into her confidential medical records in September 2005 after she gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston, at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. Some of those employees have been sacked as well.
Britney Spears was admitted to the hospital on January 31 shortly after being placed on a “5150 hold” when it was determined she posed a danger to herself or others. She was later released on the 6th of February 2008.
I think it is appalling that patient confidentiality has been broken. No matter who the patient is all medical staff and Doctors have a duty of care to the patient not their own whims about who the patient is!
