David Blaine held his breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds underwater live on the Oprah show, setting a new world record!
Celebrity Magician David Blaine set a new world record for holding his breath underwater.
David Blaine stopped breathing for more than 17 minutes while suspended in a water-filled sphere. He performed this stunt live on stage, on the Oprah Winfrey’s talk show.
David Blaine was dressed in a silver wet suit, the magician was lowered into an acrylic sphere filled with 1,800 gallons (8,183 litres) of water.
Before the stunt David Blaine spent 23 minutes inhaling pure oxygen, filling his lungs with extra oxygen.
Guinness says that this record attempt you can have up to 30 minutes of so-called “oxygen hyperventilation” under its guidelines.
David Blaine later told Oprah:
“There’s no enhancement, no cheating,” he added, that the stunts he does are not about magic but about pushing the limits of the human body.
Still sounds crazy to me!
