Manage the Stars
Every working actor needs a manager, why?
It is simply because a manager is someone who organizes a talent’s day. He takes care of the personal needs, which makes him different from a talent scout. Usually, people would think that a manager is responsible for getting and deciding if the talent would take the job. Actually this is quite true. Yes, it is the manager who will decide what and which job his talent is going to take, but it is not really his responsibility to find jobs for his talent, in fact, that is the job of the celebrity’s talent agent. This, however, is the conventional job description of a celebrity manager.
Nowadays, you would find that there are other things that a manager could be. He could be a celebrity manager or an aspiring-actor manager. In some other times, a manager could even function as a celebrity’s personal assistant and even be the talent scout, or the talent could be the manager himself and manage his own work. However, for a starting celebrity or rising-actor, of course you would need someone with a lot of connections to manage you because even though you are a talent of a very respectable and a really high ranking talent agency that does not mean your fame could rise along with the agency’s fame and all. A manager would be someone who would defend and at the same time the one who would really take care of you and your career.
But of course, that is if you want to be the talent. However, what if you would want to be the manager? Before I tell you a few details about being a manager, first allow me to expound the benefits of being a manager. A celebrity manager gets a few percentages of his talents and whatever the percentage that he gets is based upon the agreement in the contract of the manager—or him—and the talents.
Now, what do you need to do to be a top celebrity manager? You could start by looking for a time worthy talent. Of course, a good manager is known by discovering a good talent. Your talent has to be someone who knows how to value his work, the things that comes in his way and the efforts you put in his career.
Then, after you have discovered a worthy talent, you have to have a connection with other managers and some talent scouts or perhaps a talent agency. But of course, for starters, you probably do not have any of those big time connections which would make your job easier, so what you need to do is find your talent a few small time jobs and wait for a respectable talent scout to find him. You could also approach a talent agency and market your talent, or, as another choice, you could join a contest like the American Idol, especially if your talent is a good singer. Another choice is to allow him or her to join an audition for a new show in Disney, like what happened to Miley Cyrus, though of course, with the help of his famous father Billy Ray Cyrus. After you have found a job for your talent successfully. If your talent is really that good then everything would just unfold. Time will come and you would get more talents, you would have better connections that you need to make your job easier and then you would be on your road to managing fame!
